Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking henchman for a Tokyo yakuza family, is sentenced to 18 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Never giving up hope, Ichiban serves his sentence and is released only to discover that no one is waiting for him and that his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected most.
Ichiban sets out to uncover the truth about his family's betrayal and reclaim his life, assembling a ragtag group of society's outcasts: the wayward cop Adachi, the ex-nurse Nanba, and the determined flight attendant Saeko. Together, the four become entangled in a conflict brewing beneath the surface of Yokohama and find themselves forced to repent of the heroes they never thought they could be.
